Sunita Gonzalez

Sunita Gonzalez is an insurance defense attorney whose practice focuses on liability and insurance coverage matters. She defends insurers and their insureds in a broad range of civil disputes, including bodily injury and premises liability, negligent security, restaurant liability, and coverage disputes. She handles each matter from the first case assessment through final resolution.

Before joining the firm, Sunita was in-house trial counsel for a national insurance carrier. There she managed high-volume litigation dockets across multiple Florida jurisdictions, centered on Personal Injury Protection claims under Florida’s No-Fault statute. She regularly conducts depositions, mediations, and global settlement negotiations. She works closely with claims professionals and expert witnesses to evaluate coverage, liability, and damages exposure and to reach cost-effective outcomes. Earlier, as an associate at a Miami civil defense firm, she defended Fortune 500 companies and major corporations in bodily injury, premises liability, first-party property, and coverage litigation.

Her perspective on coverage comes partly from her tenure at the office of an insurance agency that underwrote auto, commercial, boat, and homeowners policies which gave her an appreciation and working knowledge of how policies are written and serviced, which she now applies to coverage analysis and litigation strategy.

Sunita earned her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University College of Law in 2022, where she made the Dean’s List and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida International University. She is fluent in Spanish.

Outside of her practice, Sunita enjoys caring for her collection of plants, reading, boating, and spending time with her dog, Amber.
